When meeting with clients, we all know there is one goal: everyone needs to put the word out. You as a consumer should ask yourself…Is there a method to the madness and do you have a reason for making news and in turn noise? I recommend thinking about what the purpose is for media and where you hope to take your business as a result of this tool. Are you trying to elevate your status, increase revenue or just build a following. Consider using social media tools (i.e. Facebook and Twitter) to enhance your news and make you relevant in to your audience and in the digital landscape. Remember who your audience is and what the most efficient media will be to get your idea across. Is TV the best method or is it online? Is a tweet worth a 1000 words (actually only 140 characters) but will a little go a long way?

Who’s going to help you once the news is out and how will you support your efforts? Will there be marketing and advertising to support your efforts? Where do you want to go from here? Do you have a spokesperson and do they have messages they want to get out? If your wheels are spinning then it might be the time for you to consider public relations services. The Prenner Group can help you determine your PR needs and how to drive a successful campaign.

Today I was meeting a colleague on the west side and ended up spending about 2 hours in traffic. It only felt like an hour because I was on the phone taking care of calls for a long majority of the ride. When I was finally off the phone, I resorted to checking my emails. I feel like I’m a slave to my smart phone, my iPad, my iPhone and my MacBook. When was the last time you actually had a conversation with someone face-to-face and the person next to you didn’t look at their device and was distracted by the face time? I think sometimes its okay to scale down and simplify. When you’re spending time with people you love, take a beat and remember, its still going to be there tomorrow.

Welcome to the new and improved home of The Prenner Group.com. We hope that we can serve as a resource to media professionals and as a platform to others. This blog will help you with a variety of different things but most importantly show you how to convey your message and speak to topical events. This being TCA Week, (Television Critics Tour Association Week) we are looking at second chances. Hollywood loves a comeback. On Friday, OWN announced a new talk show with Rosie O’Donnell, launching in October and PBS announced a talk show in development with Arsenio Hall. Are the 90′s back? What’s next? Grunge wear, Doc Martens, baggy jeans and the Jennifer Aniston haircut? Maybe Pretty Woman will return with Emma Stone, Hollywood’s “It-girl” as the lead? Whatever the case, we love the return of a familiar face and we love to see people get the second chances they deserve. We also consider them a sort of “comfort food” as we grew up with these people. It will be fun to see if the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest and Justin Bieber will be around in the next decade and what will happen when they fall off the radar. We hope they’re around, but you never know.
